1218380 2011-07-22 23:32:00 Can't put anything precious up high in Christchurch unless you want to risk it coming crashing to the ground as my computer has done twice off the kitchen table, been using my old laptop since Feb. zqwerty (97)

1218382 2011-07-22 23:56:00 Have wooden floors in the office so 2 desktops sitting on the floor. Lounge has a desktop on the carpet, garage workshop partitioned off has 2 more desktops on the wooden floor. I prefer to have them on the floor they are not so easy to knock over if under the desk gary67 (56)

If in ChCh. they seem to keep working after crashing to the floor.

Now have the two back stand rubbers over the back of the desk, just in case No. 4 strikes.

It (the next big one) will probably come from an entirely new direction and another crash eventuate.

Lurking.

Can depend on the parts. One day A certain relative of mine, after HE knocked it off the bench, decided to punish it and booted it round the room for a while.

Once I saw it, it's poor case looked like it had been run over by a truck, the CD drive had burst out, the front switch was smithereens etc etc,

Pulled it apart, panelbeated the case, re-jigged the switch so you touched the wires (now hanging out) together to start, put it's abused bits back in - and voila!! It went!!! For quite a long time - until it was retired.

Yay for ASUS motherboards, worst beating one had ever had I reckon.

1218385 2011-07-23 11:37:00 I keep mine on the desk. I used to have it on the floor but it seemed to accumulate more dust that way.

Anyway, I prefer it to be easily accessible.
