1189445 2011-03-26 03:00:00 So, how do these things connect to the USB port on your computer? Do they always come with the necessary lead, or is that another "optional extra"? tuiruru (12277)
1189446 2011-03-26 03:04:00 This is the travel plug for charging that will help

1189448 2011-03-26 03:11:00 Just plug an Ipod into a USB port like some phones. Either with the cable, or it may come with the dock and cable.

Only thing is, you may have to connect the computer / whatever to power. So it can charge it. Since some USB ports wont charge Ipods, when the computer is off

1189450 2011-03-26 03:48:00 I know about as much as you Tuiruru but I do object to Apple iPods etc because they force you to convert your music to mp4 (or whatever format Apple uses) . I had the experience of watching a teenage daughter blithely copy some music using our work computer - and before my eyes, all music on the pc was converted to Apple format .

Subsequently I couldn't copy and play this music in my car or stereo (oldie worldie I know) .

So I now insist my offspring use mp3s and life has been placid ever since . :D They don't have any Apple things .

To be fair iPods, iPads etc may all play mp3 now but you are better to know there is a difference .

Your daughter must of hit the wrong button, ipods play mp3's . What you have experienced is operator error, not software or hardware error .

1189451 2011-03-26 03:50:00 Is this purely for music, or does it need to perform other tasks plod (107)
1189452 2011-03-26 05:21:00 Hi Plod

I've seen that some come with an FM tuner, some'l let you do voice recording and do some play videos? Anything else?

Initially it was just for music. What with the flight and other associated costs we're trying to keep the price down without ending up with a load of tat!

1189453 2011-03-26 09:24:00 if its just music get a dick smiths special or ipod shuffle, save the money. If you want games, internet access etc. look at the likes of the ipod touch and zune if they are still being sold plod (107)
