Ground >---0---/\/\/\---> positive supply, "0" represents an LED, colour (or color) it in manually to suit your application Better is to put 3 LEDs in series plus a series 1/8W 220 ohm resistor, not so much heat wasted . So, Ground >--0---0---0---/\/\/\---> positive supply . Avoid anything from Rover, Lucas or any other Eurotrash . Leave the LED out to simulate their efforts . Nice! I'll do this in the weekend - one day away yet . I will p/u some blue LEDs and try them - they are pretty bright and a little larger than the tiny ones that are sold for commercial installation in dashboards on vehicles . Ultimately there'll be over 2 dozen (NZ= 2 . 4m/LEDs) in the circuit, so that's why I was thinkin' parallel - but your idea makes sense . |

OIC - I forgot to announce that I am building these LED units myself as the sheer number of them that I'd need would cost a lot more than I am willing to pay. Parsimonious? Perhaps - but I'd rather be able to say that I built them with a little technical help from a group of dedicated technicians that I communicated with expressly for this project. Youse guys are my imported technicians. |

| 1189267 | 2011-03-27 04:02:00 | well then the main thing you need to know is the current limit of the led. the resistor is to limit the current not the voltage. need to work out how many you need and in what fashion you are going to wire them. depending on what forward voltage they have you will need to wire a certain amount in series. basically your going to have to rewire your lights in the dash. the other thing is to use a regulator instead. that will control voltage and current draw. |

| 1189268 | 2011-03-27 04:24:00 | 'twas thinking about just energizing the whole bank of dashboard lights - there are about 20 or them - all from the same source EG: a voltage regulator or such. Hmm. Since the lighting circuit in the dashboard is isolated from any other circuits - the only thing common is their fuse - I think that might be more logical. I can just put a regulator or resistor or whatever in the place of the fuse and fuse the regulator externally. Now to figure on the whole amp-load and build a small transformer/regulator thingamabob-y |

| 1189269 | 2011-03-27 06:17:00 | without rewiring they will all be in parallel. bit harder as you have to drop the voltage a lot. also if one goes (they tend to short) it will short the regulator and at the very least will cause all dash lights to go out. i'm assuming your changing all dash lights to led. what led's are you using? |
