2011-03-22 07:21:00 | I think we do owe hueybot3000 a big thanks for taking over the hosting of ImageF1, and keeping it going for so long (and of course Dannz et al. for developing it back in the day). | somebody (208) | |

2011-03-22 07:47:00 | ImageF1 had one big advantage over images via vBulletin -- the size. Quite simply, if someone posted an image that has a lot of detail, text for fault finding etc, then images via vBulletin simply dont cut it - most are to small to read. There are various othe sites that are free to upload as well, but one way around that is to make the images allowed to be larger in vBulletin. This is mainly for people that dont know how to select only certain sections of a screen shot.

2011-03-22 08:13:00 | I'd quite like to keep ImageF1 around - I'm happy to host it (will stick it in a VM though, to prevent it dealing to anything else on the server), and I'm happy to do a security audit of the code too. The main reason is because IF1 doesn't have the same size limit that VB has, and it's very simple for new members to use.

I said get rid of it before 'cause it was a waste of money really having to pay full price to keep it up and fix your code glitch. | icow (15313) | ||

2011-03-22 08:43:00 | The cost of hosting was never really an issue except on my Christchurch server. But it's not that bad bandwidthwise. I've pm'd you Erayd

2011-03-22 09:06:00 | I like it because it's free, quick, easy and can take larger images than vB allows. And I don't have to sign up for yet another website!! I would be happy to contribute to running costs if needed.

2011-03-22 09:31:00 | I vote - keep it. I'd be more than happy to chip in for the cost of whatever upgrades are in the pipeline. I'd be quite interested in this exploit though, I've had a bit of a prod at it but didn't find much. Any chance of a semi-public audit? :D maybe that's a bit cheeky. As for this unsavory fellow deleting multiple sites, sounds like the web host had a poor setup. If that hacker managed it, then there's no reason a disgruntled customer couldn't do the same. If you need it, I've got a backup of all the images (but no metadata) from January 2nd.
