1218521 2011-07-23 02:35:00 Hi Team

I'm looking for a battery for my Libretto 50CT and the Toshiba parts supplier (empr.co.nz) can't supply, despite the item still being listed as available and on special several weeks later.

So, I did a search, found global-battery.co.nz who apparently have a non-oem version in stock (on special!) but shortly after I accessed the site (when I clicked on 'add to cart') MWB threw up a warning that it had blocked an outgoing connection to a malicious site with the IP 117.21.224.235

I am aware that MWB has been throwing false positive lately, but can anybody confirm that Global-Batteries.co.nz is a legit site? I am pretty sure it is but I tried using Who Is to check it and just got error messages on both the domain name and the above IP address so I gave up, it clearly needs an insight or a level of expertise that I don't have.

Cheers

Erm!

Thanks for the info

Does that mean that the supposed xxx.co.nz site is actually in China?

The english seems to be authentic kiwi for as much as I have read, not a sign of chinglish, though admittedly I didn't look for long or very hard because the warning came up real fast (Thanks MWB).

I'll be P'd off if it is shonky, I really need to get one of those batteries (the type, not their offering). Is there anyway to check the site's .co.nz url links to China? I'm not grasping at straws here, I want to know how to check out any other source I might find.

Cheers

Hadn't but have tried it now thanks, the Libretto is not listed, dead end.

I now have bookmarked Whois and have more or less got to grips with it, consequently I can now see how sneaky that global-battery.co.nz address really was. It does appear to be a genuine battery shop, but I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

Looks like I might have to organise a strapadicktome for the Libretto, but I'll need 12 Ni-mH to power it via the mains adapter socket and that is going to mean a rather clumsy add-on.

Cheers

1218528 2011-07-23 11:39:00 Why not just get someone to rebuild the battery pack for you, or even rebuild it yourself?

I've seen quite a few blogs etc where people have done that with success.

1218529 2011-07-23 12:00:00 There's a battery repacker in Penrose, Auckland. Never used them but did hunt them out a few years ago. EX-WESTY (221)
1218530 2011-07-23 12:18:00 Just found www.recell.co.nz They have the Libretto 50CT charger listed, so they may be able to get the actual battery as well, Under contact us, they have phone numbers for ChCh and Auck. wainuitech (129)
