1218186 2011-07-21 12:39:00 I've been searching the net for an alternative to DVD Decrypter, is handy to back up discs. They are easily scratched. On rare occasions it lets me down so at the moment I am trying AnyDVD as a trial version.

Any other suggestions? Afterdawn doesn't appear to have any recent information.

1218187 2011-07-21 17:49:00 I use DVDFab to backup my DVD's which I have had no trouble with. I also think if you search there site that there is a free version for backing up.

1218189 2011-07-21 23:14:00 DVD Decrypter is old and no longer updated, DVD fab is based on the same orginal code ( I think ) and is much newer so it should work better. AnyDVD does seem to be the best option as it's regularly updated, but it's not free.

Bear in mind I don't think you are allowed to backup commercial DVD's even if you own them. I may be wrong about that, I remember something about 1 backup for personal use being allowed but I think that's american copyright law and I'm pretty sure it's not true in NZ.

I think it's illegal in NZ and the USA to crack the encryption system of a DVD.
