| 1217982 | 2011-07-21 04:49:00 | Is there such a thing as a 'reversed wireless router' or switch? I have been toying with the idea of using Orcon's new 'Genius' Phone-Modem. The phone uses the Internet instead of a dedicated land-line. Reasons for using it are:- 1] $30 a month cheaper than a conventional phone/broadband setup. 2] Quieter phone, always been noisy. 3] 45Gb cap instead of 25Gb, don't know what I will do with it all! Problems:- 1] Can not use FAX (not sure on this one) 2] We have 3 laptops on wireless, Ok, but also 2 Desk Tops which are on cable/LAN/Router. I could buy LAN/wireless adapters for the PC's, or better still, have a Router/switch which received wireless and had LAN sockets. Is there such a thing? Another consideration is I quite often need a cable connection when I am updating another computer without the hassle of setting up the wireless. |

You can use FAX by hooking it up to one of the FXS ports, but the quality isn't *quite* 100% What is a FXS port? I send FAX from the computer with a 56k modem. |
