1190463 2011-03-30 04:10:00 My wife requires a printer / scanner for work and I haven't brought a printer or scanner in years.

What brands should I be looking at? Who has the cheapest consumables? Thanks.

1190464 2011-03-30 04:28:00 This seems like a good deal?

Not really interested in photo printing. Just need to scan documents to email them and print the odd document.

1190465 2011-03-30 04:40:00 Among the toaster shops, dse are probably excellent for odd document printing,

Unless you have some kind of OCR, many scanned text documents at high enough resolution for legibility are too large for e-mailing.

1190466 2011-03-30 06:51:00 I would get something from Canon Agent_24 (57)
1190467 2011-03-30 06:57:00 I wouldnt get brother unless you want to replace 4 ink carts at over $100 every time they run out.

Canon would be better, quite a few / probably all have 2 ink carts. Ive got a canon scanner / printer / card reader / lcd but no fax.

Dont think this one scans then emails tho. You have to scan / save it then email

1190468 2011-03-30 07:05:00 Epson does scan to email, so does brother.

Canon has a network client for getting scans pushed - or they can be dumped on USB key - obviously these are to do with network connectable machines - which is what I was just looking for. I bought a Canon MX350. Has an ADF for document scanning, but one thing I'm disappointed about is that it's lost the paper cartridge in the bottom like like canon mp530 has.

It meant you could have A4 in the cartridge and photo paper/encelopes etc in the rear. The MX350 only has the rear paper tray.

1190469 2011-03-30 07:08:00 Canon are lousy when it comes to Linux. Probably not a problem for you. mikebartnz (21)
