| 1190473 | 2011-03-30 08:12:00 | would you consider a BW laser/scanner? Sure. But I'm guessing we'd have to spend quite a bit for one though? |

| 1190474 | 2011-03-30 08:13:00 | How much printing is she doing? Not much, maybe a few pages a week. But if we had a printer available I'm guessing that would increase. I love rasterizing things :D |

| 1190475 | 2011-03-30 08:17:00 | ... Unless you have some kind of OCR, many scanned text documents at high enough resolution for legibility are too large for e-mailing. I've never seen an OCR program work properly. So I'd need something to change it to say a PDF? |

| 1190476 | 2011-03-30 08:21:00 | Ughhh.. Don't PDF it.. just put it in a RAR archive or something if it's too big. And you don't need to scan something at 1000 DPI to get legibility, though if you do, your scanner or software is probably stupid. |

She has to sign the bottom of them, so she can't just fill out an electronic copy. They actually wanted her to fax them. Yes, that's how much in the dark ages they are. |

| 1190478 | 2011-03-30 08:25:00 | So what I meant to say in that last post was, raring a file and emailing it would probably end up with an email back saying "What is this? We need your time sheet." And they were very clear that if they don't receive a timesheet, then the pay doesn't go through. So it has to be very simple for the person that's receiving the email, to make sure her pay goes through. | pine-o-cleen (2955) | ||
| 1190479 | 2011-03-30 08:26:00 | Then they'd probably be just as confused if you sent a PDF . . . They probably expect you to paste the image into a word document or something :stare: |

They probably expect you to paste the image into a word document or something :stare: Yeah probably . We don't have a phone line, so getting a fax isn't really an option . I'm not paying smellycom $47 / month (or whatever it is) so we can send 1 fax a week . I also researched email to fax services, but we would still need a scanner at least, and since this job is a contract (ie she would be self employed) I figure we may as well get a printer / scanner since we can claim the tax back . |

| 1190482 | 2011-03-30 09:36:00 | Any scanners should do what you need .... Scan at 300 dpi and PDF it. Many scanners have PDF ability for free incorporated into the manufacturer's software. You could just use any formats you like really and fax it with your computer to their fax number. Businesses still use fax you know :D PS. Ok, cancel the fax then, no line. It's work related so you could just use the employer's facilities to fax it. That's by experience. |
