1190031 2011-03-28 20:08:00 What gets me about the people using them is how badly clothed they are for riding two wheels and the cost for that with ACC. eg. No gloves, proper footwear etc.
I always wear gloves even in summer. If you come off the first thing you do is to put your hands out to protect yourself so your hands do need protection. Yes you do see people riding scooters wearing shorts, t-shirt and jandles. There is no protection when dressed like this if you have an accident.

1190032 2011-03-28 20:43:00 The problem is not the stupid clothing choices people make riding two-wheeled vehicles, it's further back in the decision-making chain: ACC.

The fact that it's there and available for all means that many people don't bother to think about consequences of actions.

If ACC was not the soft mattress at the bottom of the cliff and medical treatment had to be paid for by individuals, there would be fewer idiots riding motorcycles with jandals.

Of course, we would then have the nightmare that is the American medical system, where it would cost $1000 to change a sticking plaster (although from some of the charges from non-public emergency care I have heard of recently, I think we're moving that way anyway...) and people would clog the courts with spurious civil suits.

1190033 2011-03-29 07:55:00 As a motorcyclist of over forty years, the only time I have been in a collision with a car is when a car driver has 'Not seen me" and pulled out in front of me.

As a a non car driver I am pissed that my registration has gone up to cover so called costs.

I believe that the best thing would could do to prevent accidents is to remove ALL car and vehicle insurance...Man would that make people look both ways... and in mirrors...

So true when the real cost hit them in the back pocket they would squeal like stuck pigs.

1190035 2011-03-29 09:09:00 It's like trying to choose an ISP and Phone package or choosing a power supply Company. They like to make it difficult to compare don't they?

I had noticed that, looking at moving from Slingshot when 12 months is up, they don't seem to give a toss about my B/B speeds.

As you say they like to complicate things with different packages.

1190036 2011-03-29 23:24:00 Its been doom & gloom over petrol prices for the last 10+ years
Yet the roads still arent flooded with scooters, why, because most will allways prefer a car & just pay the extra petrol $$$
A good few months of constant rain takes care of the casual scooter riders
How many scooter riders are still riding scooters/small motorbikes past the age of 30 ?? or after the stage they can afford to buy a car ??
