1220202 2011-07-31 10:47:00 Telecom for data ? ollieogg (6593)
1220203 2011-07-31 14:09:00 Telstra claim they have been best ISP for 3 years in a row, they dont say when that was mind you !! They were good (on cable), but I think they are falling behind now in data rate and cap. Iantech (16386)
1220204 2011-07-31 21:08:00 Best for what? Price? Performance? Caps? Customer service? pctek (84)
1220205 2011-07-31 21:10:00 Orcon are usually pretty good overall with some decent value-for-money
Telecom, aside from mediocre outsourced customer service their network / reliability is *usually* pretty good
TelstraClear - If you're on Cable (NOT DSL) then they're the ones to go for. Otherwise their piss-poor customer service just isn't worth going near with a 10ft barge pole!

1220206 2011-07-31 21:24:00 Telecom would be up there, imo - performance is typically good, reliability pretty good, service decent (since they can't pass the blame onto anyone else like most others try to!) and now that they have data caps up to 80GB they're pretty decent on that front, too. I think there are other ISPs that are better in any specific one of these areas, sure, but there's not too many I've dealt with that are as balanced, to be honest. Orcon, despite some terrible personal experience with them, have overall been pretty good. inphinity (7274)
1220207 2011-07-31 22:28:00 Another vote for Telecom. They have just doubled the cap for same price as of today. I have experienced very good reliability, speed and service from them. They typically answer service calls very quickly.

And, like inphinity says, there is comfort in dealing with a one stop shop.

Another aspect of picking ISPs is what you/they do with tolls. You have to take your situation into account.
