1191853 2011-04-04 05:33:00 So, I went in this morning all excited starting my new MCITP course :)

get in the door and I get about a ton of books, I already knew this was going to happen but it didnt make it any better :/

New teacher was decent, just the course work seems a bit heavy to say the least

He said that it shouldnt be too hard, but that it wouldn't be easy either to get this qualification... so atleast thats a good thing.

One thing he did say was that the course sylabus was far more than could realistically be taught in the 3 month time frame, but that we would go over the topics we needed to do.

Got our Server disks, 1 32 bit with standard/enterprise/datacenter and another of the same in 32 bit. there 120 day trial versions and we get keys midway through the course for them(probably only standard, enterprise if we're lucky) and keys for our copys of 7 ultimate? or enterprise(we get the disks midway too)

Was quite happy with the above.

now to study. maybe lol.

/end rant

1191854 2011-04-04 06:00:00 Good on you! Sounds like it is going ok. Must be very interesting studying at Ames IT. It will be great if you can get into a good job afterwards.
Did you have to pay for the course up front, or do WINZ help you with the costs?

1191857 2011-04-05 01:30:00 Ok sorry for the double post but here it is:

Microsoft Self-Paced Training Kit (www.microsoft.com)

We also have about 5 more books, but there kinda all the same. when I get home I'll give you the names of the two I have got sofar

they were just 642 books i think, two of them 'volume 1/volume 2'

That training kit includes genuine disks for 32 and 64bit server standard/enterprise and datacenter?!?

1191860 2011-04-08 04:53:00 So are you going for the 70-640, 642 and 646?? The books you have are pretty good too. Good luck mate jwin (16186)
1191861 2011-04-09 23:57:00 If it's a PTE (private training est.), I think Studylink has SA and SLs but the SL is capped at $10,000. PTEs can be more expensive than some other places. A few of my friends who did IT courses at a PTE had to pay their own certifications if that goes over $10,000 ... Nomad (952)
1191862 2011-04-10 00:18:00 Do you get to work with Small Business Server? It is a great system & you will probably encounter it if you end up working for an IT company rather than the IT department in a large organisation. Greven (91)
