| 1191542 | 2011-04-03 00:57:00 | I recently got a item put on hire purchase. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I can't afford the payments. Am I able to get out of the hp agreement within 7 days of the hp purchase? |

I did cancel a hp 10 years ago because the wait for the goods was longer then they told me with no problems. That was with NL before they used GE | plod (107) | ||

| 1191551 | 2011-04-05 01:38:00 | . howtolaw . co . nz/html/ml192 . asp" target="_blank">www . howtolaw . co . nz the law allows you a three-day "cooling off" period after you sign the contract to change your mind and cancel the contract . Modifying the contract in cases of "hardship" You can ask the lender to change the terms of the contract if you believe you are unable to keep up with the payments under the contract because of some unforeseen hardship - such as being ill or injured, or losing your job, or your relationship breaking up, or the death of your spouse or partner, or some other reasonable cause . However, you can't do this if you've already missed a payment or exceeded a credit limit . If the lender doesnt agree to amend the contract, you can apply to the Courts or a Disputes Tribunal for it to amend the contract . The Court or Tribunal will give both you and the lender a reasonable chance to be heard . ------------------------------------------------- I pretty sure you can cancel the HP by returning the goods . You are still liable for any associated loss's . Not sure if this law in vaild ?? Like a voluntary repocession |
