| 1191386 | 2011-04-02 06:29:00 | "One of the yacht skippers, Daniel Mares, says the message to the Government is clear - the people of New Zealand do not want, or support deep sea drilling." Should that be changed to some people? www.radionz.co.nz |

| 1191390 | 2011-04-02 07:22:00 | Does that mean that we have all decided on the matter. I do not remember Daniel Mares asking for my opinion. There are people down south here who welcome oil exploration off our coast. Could do wonders for our economy. | Bobh (5192) | ||
| 1191391 | 2011-04-02 07:25:00 | We need to become more self sufficient and any way to do that must be embraced but like any other technology, it needs to be handled carefully. Makes more sense to harvest oil in our own backyard than to buy it from overseas. Interesting to note that those against oilfields in NZ waters are quite happy to buy oil from wells harvested in other nations' waters. Consistency in outlook is not one of their strong points. To hell with the nay sayers - we need projects like that to save precious overseas funds! No one asked my opinion either. |

The only time you get asked for your opinion, and it counts, is when you actually vote and it seems to be that many people do not for some reason. I may add that I don't want to push my opinion and render it as gospel. |

| 1191393 | 2011-04-02 07:43:00 | Off topic, but will all the oil extracted stay in NZ? Will it be refined here or shipped off elsewhere? And how will the prices for us drop? The only time you get asked for your opinion, and it counts, is when you actually vote and it seems to be that many people do not for some reason. Because we have the MMP system that isn't true, hell it even said so on the election leaflet "your single vote does not count". It counts even less, because all politicians are liars. :) |

I think you will find our refineries are of a pretty poor standard and that oil harvested locally is shipped elsewhere to be refined while we buy oil from international markets that can be handled by our refineries. Makes perfect sense..,.... |

It's not off topic as such in my opinion. Mining rights have royalty rights and these are Govt. controlled and therefore the Govt. can change same overnight under urgency at times. We have a refinery already and I have no idea where the oil will be refined. Much like the fleece of sheep I guess. We export the wool and I guess we will export the oil. This will affect the balance of payments if we export more than we import I suspect. Stop buying imports. |
