1192496 2011-04-07 11:32:00 IIRC that happened when we got another batch of smilies. ubergeek85 (131)
1192497 2011-04-07 12:21:00 Yeah, why do only some have a :colon: while others have just :colon?

Depends who adds them in the admin panel, and whether they have the time to go thru and change the ones that are not "consistent" with the others already added.

They are simply to enable the word that triggers the icon to be typed "normally" without making the smiley appear by mistake - so when I say "thumbs up mate" thats what gets output, and not " up mate"

double colons were used a lot in the earlier days, one at both ends - but then I guess as things got made more "user friendly" or something they got shortened to a single colon at one end or the other, and then some with none at all lol

you can change them when installing them, or indeed edit them anytime but thats time consuming and a pita to tell the truth - I've installed literally thousands of them in forums I admin at over the years

1192499 2011-04-07 20:56:00 Yeah I had some fun at first with :pf1mobile: and deciding if it would or wouldn't trail with a colon. Definitely a PITA messing around with them, but not as bad as theming! Now *that* was a pain! Chilling_Silence (9)
