No need to stop at stop sign, speed on motorway in your sick world the police would see it but would ignore it I watched two court case recently involving the following minor infringements where the defendants took their cases to court . One involved a guy on his way to a funeral who went through a rural town with almost no traffic and was followed by a officer who charged him with failing to indicate when exiting a roundabout . He was going straight ahead and there were no other traffic around . ( Crime of the century) I now watch cops to see if they always indicate - Some of them don't . The other was for not wearing a seat belt . Again no traffic cop in a mufty car going in the opposite direction said he could see through tinted windows . Yeh right . Guy was only going 200 meters to post some mail . Said he was wearing it . Result 2 cops spend X time preparing for court then half a day in court . To achieve what - Two pissed off members of the public . |

But if everyone was to defend infringement notices as they actually can and in my view possibly should if there is a defence in laws drafted by the Parliament I would think that the queue in Courts would get longer. But, were either of the defendants convicted? |

Yes the were both convicted - What to you expect JP always believe the police . Quote from a police prosecuting Sargent " The JP will do as I advise them" |

Quote from a police prosecuting Sargent " The JP will do as I advise them" But you have to have legal defence for it to work anyway I would think. You have to give Police your full name and address and date of birth. You don't have to say anything else. Or you have to have evidence that can be produced that is admissable that counters the Police evidence or casts doubt. |

Well if that were true we'd have a lot of pensioners in prison and we don't, so I think you'll find crime is mostly committed by young men who eventually grow out of it by about age thirty . The ones that don't will pretty much occupy a prison bed for many years . |

| 1191188 | 2011-04-02 10:14:00 | Twelvevolts claims to have been a prosecutor but does not say where that *I* have seen . . Duh!! - you're obviously not aware that you prosecute in Courts . :groan: But Tokoroa District Court was one of them buckweed . |

It is true, and I'm well aware that they can't sustain their lifestyle choice until retirement age, But by that time the career criminal has had hundreds if not thousands of victims, ruined a few lives, and cost society millions of dollars. |
