1192588 2011-04-07 00:21:00 Small change compared to the budget for the entire Rugby World Cup...

IMO it's just people getting their knickers in a twist over nothing again.
Obviously people from Bitville understand numbers but don't realise that that $2,000,000 has to come from somewhere which is the tax payers pocket.:(
It always amuses me people that use the small change argument. Have you never heard the old saying "save the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves" or in today's lingo "save the cents and the dollars will look after themselves."

Will this silly idea actually bring in any money?

1192589 2011-04-07 00:23:00 English say we are desperate for dosh, so Key says, lets spend $2000000 on a piece of plastic then.

Do we we have brilliant politicians or what?
I did have high hopes for the lad but he has really disappointed me. They had a great chance to really do something with the tax changes but really just had a wee fiddle.

1192590 2011-04-07 00:28:00 The Iwi concerned have approx $350 million of their own apparently. No tender because it was their idea. Snorkbox (15764)
1192591 2011-04-07 00:29:00 Contribution of Ngati Whatua o Orakei: $100,000.

Mr English said about three-quarters of the cost would come from cuts to other areas rather than new funding.

probably why there is a new round of public servant jobs for the chop yet again

1192592 2011-04-07 00:30:00 New Zealand - our nation has no (not enough) money for the politicians to waste. bk T (215)
1192593 2011-04-07 00:30:00 We are already in the red and the government wants to fork out money for something that may get used for a few months then put in storage. QW. (15883)
1192594 2011-04-07 00:49:00 maybe use it as a pie cart after the rugby? Canny Banny (16322)
1192595 2011-04-07 01:04:00 maybe use it as a pie cart after the rugby?

Good thinking, a 60m pie cart.

We'll see no benefit in the SI.
Indeed, the whole RWC seems to be an AK event now.
