1220055 2011-07-30 23:35:00 Hi, I have just been sent a DVD from a mate in the States but can't play it as its Region 1. Can anyone reccommend a free downloadable, easy to use, full version application I could use to convert this to Region 4 please? Cheers.... Aporosa (5671)

1220058 2011-07-31 01:29:00 VLC will play any region. You may also find firmware or software for your (computer) DVD player that will unlock regions. Terry Porritt (14)
1220059 2011-07-31 03:17:00 Thanks for your responses but does anyone know of an application that will allow me to actually convert from Region 1 to 4 (and then I will use say DVD Flick to reburn the converted Region 4 image onto a new DVD to play in my DVD player)? Cheers Aporosa (5671)
1220060 2011-07-31 03:42:00 Sigh. DVD Shrink will do that!! Snorkbox (15764)
1220061 2011-07-31 03:52:00 Thanks Snorkbox.... I should have said that Im a computer illiterate, it would have saved your sigh... ok, I will use my DVD Shrink. Thanks... Aporosa (5671)
1220062 2011-07-31 04:41:00 DVD decrypter (http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/) removes all region codes and makes a new DVD as well. wainuitech (129)
1220063 2011-07-31 06:59:00 Cheers wainuitech, will download not. Again, thanks to all who can be bothered helping us at the bottom of the computer food chain!! Aporosa (5671)
1220064 2011-07-31 07:50:00 It is also possible to convert many DVD players to "All Regions" if you know the codes to use on the remote control. I converted my Panasonic DVD player to "all regions" but had to borrow a special remote for that one.

A VCR repair service would probably know the answer. All this is presuming that you are not talking about a computer-based player.
