1220068 2011-07-30 21:49:00 I'm running MS Security Essentials and I've had a couple of warnings about infection from a trojan called; Trojan Downloader: HTML/Renos.Q .
I removed it as prompted by Security Essentials, fine, but then a few hours later I got the same prompt, so I removed it again.
I've looked it up, but can't find a lot about it, except it's malicious.
I'm normally fairly careful where I visit online. But I can't help but wonder if it came from an e-mail sent from my brother's hotmail address, which contained only a website address. I foolishly clicked on it and it opened some sort of Canadian online pharmacy.
Since then (I use mailwasher) I've bounced any e-mails from my Brother's hotmail address and tried to contact him to tell him what's happening.

Does this sound bad?

1220070 2011-07-30 23:29:00 Thanks CliveM,
I used a Trojan Remover and it looks as though it's gone (fingers crossed).
So Security Essentials could've done the job anyway.

1220072 2011-07-31 00:26:00 It may have been in a temp folder. Use ccleaner and delete the temp files etc. I would also make sure ONLY 1 version of Java is installed. (The latest). Uninstall the older version/s Speedy Gonzales (78)

1220074 2011-07-31 01:18:00 Also possibly turn off System Restore then back on again to clear your restore points, virii can hide in there (not necessarily detected by some virus checkers). feersumendjinn (64)

Thanks Speedy, done that.
Only thing is, I was prompted that a 32 bit browser was detected and I should install both 64 bit and 32 bit. At this stage I've only installed latest 64 bit Java.

1220076 2011-07-31 02:16:00 Go to the site and download 32 bit Java. (www.oracle.com) No point installing 64 bit java, if you dont use a 64 bit browser. The bottom 2 downloads Speedy Gonzales (78)

Done that too:)
