| 1192342 | 2011-04-06 01:20:00 | The goldfish memory span of three seconds may be a record for fish, but the shortest memory span for a vertebrate is that of the average teenager. The time taken to respond: 'Uh what?' pips the goldfish by two clear seconds. 'Yes.' would be a worthy challenger for both the shortest sentence and the most dangerous, however, it is my opinion that 'I do.' is a clear winner in both categories. The previous record for the most dangerous sentence was "I wonder what will happen when I press th ........................." Before that took the crown, it was held by "Don't worry, they couldn't hit a barn door at this dis.........." Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 1192343 | 2011-04-06 01:28:00 | As you say, useless. But still entertaining. I liked the one about the population of China walking past you. Would there be a lot of babies being carried or toddlers walking past? It seems that they may be growing up as they are walking. An interesting concept. Thanks for all of that.:thanks |

| 1192345 | 2011-04-06 02:48:00 | certain of the "facts" aren't. Like the goldfish. scientists have claimed not only that goldfish have a memory span of up to three months, but that they can also tell the time. The fish, previously believed to have a memory of just a few seconds, can distinguish between different times of day and can also be taught to follow a routine, according to research. Noses: Humans propensity toward confirmation bias (seeing only evidence that backs up what we already believe) leads us to think that this myth must be true since so many old people have big noses and ears,, but it actually only seems that way. The reason they appear so large is that as we age, our skin produces less collagen and loses elasticity, and when you throw the forces of gravity into the mix, what you get is sagging. Our earlobes and the tips of our noses stretch and droop, just like everything on the body not being held up by bone. Coupled with the fact that the skin all over the face is losing fat and collagen (and thus plumpness and shape), and that the hair is probably thinning and receding, the ears and nose sometimes start to look a lot bigger in comparison with the rest of an elderly persons features. Then again, sometimes they dontdepending on genetics and skin care choices, some older people dont have especially droopy skin, and therefore their ears and nose look perfectly normal throughout their lives. Theres one more growth-related myth that pops up in discussions of our miraculous growing ears and nose: the myth that our fingernails and hair keep growing after were dead. This myth is also untrue. Once a person is dead, her cells cease functioningend of story. However, if you look at a body that has been dead awhile, its hair and nails sometimes seem longer because the skin around them starts decomposing and pulling away from the body. Whatever happens to your nose or your ears in old age will be the result of gravity, because this one is 100 percent false. Dynamite: Dynamite is some sort of filler that's been soaked in nitroglycerin, then packed into a tube for use. Nobel used diatomaceous earth as his filler, but you can use just about anything that will soak up liquid. |
