1220974 2011-08-04 22:03:00 I didn't know they loved me.....In summary it says:

-Our broadband usage meter has been faulty.

-It only affected some of our customers (yeah right, just the ones who monitor data usage and their Telecom accounts themselves)

-It was 'quickly fixed' on 10 June.

-I might have been affected from November 2010

-They have confirmd that I was affected.

-They acknowledge that I switched to a plan with more data and they think the faulty meter may have influenced my decision (mmmm...back on dial up for 50% of each month? Possibly had an influence.)

-I've been credited with a little over $50

-I can go back to my old plan (10GB) if I wish, at no charge.

Anybody else been a recipient of this largesse?

Cheers

(And how am I supposed to tell Billy jnr, who has borne the brunt of my ire over excess usage because throughout this period he had multiple large downloads of documents and musiic for his Honours studies.)

Tivo customer? This was pretty common, until they moved to a newer billing system.

Nope, just "broken usage meter".

Nice. I had no such luck, but I monitor my usage (with gargoyle), and it's been pretty close

1220981 2011-08-05 03:54:00 Here's my monthly GB usage from April 2010 to present:

From April 2010 4.5 / 5 / 4.5 / 3.5 / 6.5 / 5.5 / 5 / 4 / 3.5

From Jan 2011 9 / 10.5 / 16.5 / 19 / 19.5 / 19 / 16.5 / current 3.5 and rising.

February this year I moved to a 20GB cap, I think Telecom noticed !!!

Cheers

1220982 2011-08-05 06:00:00 I too got the letter from Telecom. I too had increased to 20Gb because I kept running low. I was fortunate enough to get a credit ($58.00).
Funny thing was when I uprated my cap, I did mention that I couldn't understand why I was using so much bandwidth.
Good on them for coming clean, but I suspect after the last few times when they have covered up and then got their bums kicked, the honesty path was the best one.
