1194022 2011-04-13 23:39:00 However, if you had poured your heart and soul into some works, and they were being pirated and then onsold by somebody else, with them getting profits and not you, wouldn't you want to recoup that money, especially if your livelyhood depended on it?

But most pirates download things for personal use, not for reselling.

Anyway, it's not about the artists (who get a small amount of the profits) it's about the greedy media corporations who get most of the profits. They are the ones kicking up the fuss because they are the ones who want to rip people off.

Funny enough, a survey showed that a lot of artists think piracy is a good form of advertising for them: torrentfreak.com

Case in point when a low-budget film's directors said that piracy helped their film reach a wider audience and helped sales: moreintelligentlife.com

"It's the fact that the film producers have embraced internet piracy and thanked illegal downloaders for helping to spread the buzz about the movie. "

"He thanked the Releaselog community for piracy and said they were helping sales. "

Oh yeah, and the MAFIAA and associates have no problem making up false evidence to accuse people with: torrentfreak.tv

Do you REALLY want these people given the power they want?

All they are in it for is profit, profit and more profit. They couldn't care less about anything else, the potential benefits of piracy or the artists. They aren't just happy with a profit, it has to be bigger than last year (which is unsustainable anyway, nothing can keep growing and growing infinitely)

1194023 2011-04-13 23:41:00 I hate Eminem and all new music. I cannot stand Eminem at all. I would rather listen to rebecca blacks friday than Eminems so called "music".

How do we know you aren't lying and you do like Eminem?

How can you really prove you haven't downloaded it?

Will you show us all your media storage and show that the file is not there? You could have deleted it just now to trick us.

No, you definitely downloaded it because we said so.

I'm still not convinced, you could just be saying that.

I agree, but many would argue there needs to be some sort of a law around it, so rewriting it to be as unobtrusive as possible sounds like the best course of action. Thanks to Tizzard, it's *going* to happen sooner or later.

I honestly hate eminem, and i would not like about something like that.

If you look through my un-altered music playlist, 99% of the music is from 1960 to 1972.

1194027 2011-04-13 23:51:00 So you're fessing up to pirating other music then instead?

I'm still not convinced. You weren't dead on the date accused, I want you to prove to me that you haven't downloaded it.

1194029 2011-04-13 23:53:00 From a personal view I'd agree, he probably does hate Eminem, but from the eyes of the media company, he downloaded it, for sure! We said so, so he must have done!

He can't prove he didn't!

Unless he logged all his Internet traffic 24/7 or something, and can provide recorded evidence showing he never downloaded it, but then we could just argue that the logs were faked or tampered with.

No, he definitely download that Eminem song!

1194030 2011-04-14 00:01:00 This is why this bill fails. It is accusing Innocent people. I would never download an Eminem song. Why would i waste my time downloading a terrible song by a terrible artist? goodiesguy (15316)
