I find that the LMB3 is very good at boosting since every powered stomp box is really also a pre-amplifier too in a way - some noisier than others but some if you don't push too hard are quiet . What I do with my limiter is use it as a gate when I am needing to get to a lead and that way I get some boost and also keep the volume even and well-tempered . So, I am not actually using it at equal volume ON/OFF as I use it a little bit differently . When I have to jump to the fore with a bass run, I hit it and I'm there, but not boom-y . Since my amp has a STANDBY - I can tune and have the amp OFF and yet the whole chain is hot . | 1193122 | 2011-05-18 05:11:00 | The wait was surprisingly short - and well worth it. :) Great sound, easily controllable, can get pretty much any sound you want out of it, it's very versatile. Noise gate is effective, very very impressed with the pedal on the whole. The colo(u)r button is also very handy, a great idea. It's awesome :thumbs: |

I like the ability to use the COLOR switch to get out of trouble in the middle of a gig and somehow you've gone the wrong way - it'll bring you back to a very useable setting to at least make some decent sounds. Remember that this is a pre-amp too, and can feed directly into the post amp if you can access it on the back/front of your unit. That way you can cut the colorization out from any pre-amp settings, and that means cutting any signal sizzle or changes in the sound train too. If you use it that way, get an A-B/Y stomp to make the changes or you can have one guitar on the MXR and the other through the normal pre-amp on the combo you use. Don't forget to use the -15dB pad too - this has a high line-out voltage. Lots of variables with this unit, not to mention the FOH dry output (from the XLR) that you can send to a board for PA support or to more amps and combos. |
