1193106 2011-04-13 02:33:00 The GC link is just for the store nearest me - their warehouses are in Colton which is only a few more kliks further away and they get things to the stores usually overnight - so even if the store itself is out, it's readily available in 24 hours or so.

I'm also pretty sure that you don't want to mess with EvilBay and NoPayPal - as they are really ripping people off for fees and escrowed/bonded funds, especially on international transactions.

I tend to make weekly runs to GC - only 59 miles away each way - although this week may be an exception. But I'd more than be willing to try this for you.

No fees on my behalf, of course. Let's get your people and my people together and see how we can work this out.

PS :: tonight (it's 18:30, Tuesday early evening here) I will be here for at least another five or six hours and will open my Chrome browser to GMail and watch for my sniffer to tell me you sent a return post.

PM to be sent in a few minutes.

1193108 2011-04-13 03:57:00 OK - got it . I'll bring part of this whole story to the front here for those who might be interested in the plans and outcome when it happens .

I checked my local GC (they closes in another hour or so) and they don't ship internationally . What I CAN do is buy it and have it drop-shipped to my door for a small fee - but that's not a good idea as far as I can see .

So-o-o - there are a few ways to skin this cat .

1) Make an international transfer of funds from a NZ bank to my bank - and I'll check on that in the AM here in the States
2) Buy it for you and try to cross your personal check and the MXR in the mail
3) Use a credit card - which will work internationally and ship separately .

It sells for $139 . 00 in California plus the 10 . 25% sales tax - unless that changes overnight - and it might .

Since it will be valued at US prices, I think the surcharge or import duty/fees will be minimal at best at your port authority or whatever taxing agency youse guys use .

Shipping is next to consider .

The US Post Office (USPO) sends Koolaid from me to NZ no problem, and this MXR ist gonna be just a small bit larger than the box of Koolaid - so that is one shipping option .

United Parcel Service (UPS) has all sorts of logistical things that get nasty of late - and I hear they are charging for a 'weight computation' concerning the cubic inches/feet of the box by some arcane 'length x width x height x a 166 factor' to punish people sending things via them .

Do youse guys get FedEx?

Still in the planning stages - but any input is welcome .

1193109 2011-04-13 04:17:00 I like the credit card idea, but making two separate transactions is probably a bit much drama, if only there was some cunning way to incorporate both payments... wratterus (105)
1193110 2011-04-13 04:22:00 I have a friend who owns a shop in Temecula - and I'll see him this weekend. I'll ask him if he wants to make the transaction for us.

What I know for sure is that he gets a 2% hit from his credit card companies for all transactions, but that might be worth it too.

We got some plannin' to do yet.

Do you have a Postal ZIP code or ZONE Code that I can use to check the mail fees?

I am at 92539-9432 if it helps on your end.

1193111 2011-04-13 04:27:00 Mine is 7120, don't know how helpful that is though.

Or if he couldn't do that, he maybe could take a few extra % plus whatever it is for freight from my credit card, and give you cash for the freight cost...??? I've done that before but only within NZ, it's a bit of a drama still.

1193112 2011-04-13 04:31:00 We're workin' it - good things happen when two great brains get together.

I have no problem doing the credit card thing - I can post it and declare the value on the customs form at less than $150 USD and that should work I think.

My buddy will likely only want out-of-pocket expenses for this - let me get to him before we make a final on this yet.

Your 7120 comes back to me as: 7120 >> Port Motueka

1193113 2011-04-13 04:34:00 edit: if you Google my postal code, I think you can only use the first five digits. SurferJoe46 (51)
1193114 2011-04-13 04:36:00 That might just work. :)

Port Motueka would be correct, or near enough anyway.

1193115 2011-05-16 02:00:00 Joe - a quick question.

Where do you generally have the levels set on your LMB3? I've been looking at one for quite a while, but I'm not 100% sure it's the best option for a limiter. The consensus on various guitar forums seems to be that it's great as a limiter, but don't bother with the enhancer as it's too noisy. I may not want one after getting the MXR, but we will see. :)

From what I've read it looks like the following would be a good starting point to work from - where do you have yours set?

Level - so the volume is the same on or off
Enhance - ZERO
ratio - about 11 o'clock
Threshold - about noon

Cheers, ;)
