1192806 2011-04-07 11:26:00 in this case, it's a face. But same principle should apply, yes. 8ftmetalhaed (14526)
1192807 2011-04-07 13:20:00 Horrible. There is no excuse for anything bar 14 years without parole. All the cop did was pull him over, and yet after slashing him up, he sees him moving and thinks "yes, I definitely want to murder that cop" and goes and tries to.

That is far worse than a person who murders (successfully) out of rage, or even for money.

1192808 2011-04-07 19:53:00 I think the sentences for attempted murder should be similar to those for murder, after all it was pure luck in this case that the officer didn't die. So at least 14 years for this sort of attack would seem perfectly reasonable as it is aggravated by the offender coming back and having a second go. Interesting the Police Association thinks the sentence given is reasonable Twelvevolts (5457)
1192809 2011-04-07 20:32:00 No one wins because when he gets out in 4 years he is going to commit more crime. Just hope he never lives in Western Auckland. prefect (6291)
1192810 2011-04-07 20:46:00 4 years is quite adequate and he will be fully reformed to integrate with society again ... just ask that - "innocent black man" - that was in front of the Courts again recently and the judge wouldn't allow him to enter a guilty plea .... Justice ... (place Tui ad here) SP8's (9836)
1192811 2011-04-07 20:56:00 That's outrageous!
A much shorter sentence is required .... about .22 inches would suffice.

1192812 2011-04-07 21:33:00 Miss Graham said it was a fear of being locked up that caused her brother to lash out so violently. Simiona was on a 24-hour curfew in relation to burglary charges at the time. He became "scared and paranoid" when Mr Mellor stopped him, she said.

Low-life logic is beyond belief!

If he was so afraid of going to jail, why the hell was he out in breach of his curfew stealing cars?

We all make the error of trying to find reason with a brain on a par with a trilobite.
