1194082 2011-04-14 22:23:00 Lots of confusion here, getting busted is not about internet usage.

How pirates in NZ will get busted.

Using a mainstream lame public torrent tracker like "Pirate Bay" they grab a movie lets say "Lord of the Rings"

A snooping company hired by the studio or property owner are seeding in the same Torrent recording IP numbers as people download/share this movie. Its VERY easy to see IP address as most clients actively show them

The snooping company issues a infringement notice to the ISP. The ISP in the past would usually laugh and bin these infringement notices, but now by law they have to pass them on.

Easiest way Pirates will avoid getting caught

Private Torrent trackers in short. They are usually invite only and the snooping company's will always have problems obtaining access. With no access to the tracker they cannot join the torrent to acquire the Ip's.

Using something like Frostwire/Bearshare in the future will be internet suicide.

Do you think a great wall will track all users no matter what subterfuge they use to try and stay invisible? Like what they have in china or ozzy

Whats funny about bearshare? if your indicating its crap I agree.

Not sure what your smoking this morning, all I am doing is offering black and white explanations of the most "common" ways users will get caught.

There are users here that obviously believe high internet usage indicates guilt.

1194085 2011-04-14 23:03:00 Anyone who uses anything based on Gnutella is an idiot anyway, half the files are fake and the other half are viruses. Agent_24 (57)

1194087 2011-04-14 23:10:00 I meant even if there wasn't this new anti-piracy law, using those programs is still idiotic as they're pretty much worse than useless. Agent_24 (57)

1194090 2011-04-15 00:45:00 In my view the law will be unworkable like many laws drafted in the past. Snorkbox (15764)
