1195082 2011-04-17 01:26:00 Hi all,

I don't want to be gst register, I know the total income you can earn without being gst register is $60k nz.

Could I put $60k through my personal name and $60k through my company to avoid being or claiming gst?

Being gst register is a pain ....if I'm not claim it why do I have to be gst register?

Cheers

1195083 2011-04-17 01:37:00 One very simple question.

Are you charging GST in your prices, if yes then you HAVE to register.

Also one other thing to consider, invoices & receipts.

DONT try and cheat on the IRD - simply put if you do and your caught it wouldn't be good for you, they would go through you with a fine tooth comb - and it would end up costing you in the end.

GST is not hard at all, whats the big deal. Its called book keeping.

Open This gst form from IRD (www.ird.govt.nz) - it has a yes/no options, that will tell you whats what.

1195087 2011-04-17 02:20:00 Why aren't you claiming it, think about it GST on power, rates or rent, vehicle costs etc, etc. you can save. All for a few minutes work every 2 or 6 months. Crazy not to I say. Arnie (6624)

When GST was just starting I looked at it and was going to make a grand profit of about $200. It just wasn't worth it when you take your time into account and the extra accountancy fees. It is also a real dog to de-register.

If you are earning over $60000 you have no choice and the IRD would not look kindly at what you are suggesting.

1195090 2011-04-17 07:34:00 The 60k thresold has nothing to do with what you earn from your business activity if your turnover is more than $60k you are required to be registered for GST www.ird.govt.nz WayneMiddy (14028)
1195091 2011-04-17 10:13:00 You get no sympathy from me. If you have a business of that size and don't want to file GST returns I can only imagine what other rules you are knowingly failing to apply. People like you are why the rest of us have to pay so much. wotz (335)
