1195009 2011-05-10 08:22:00 I agree that we don't need the whole world to know everytime we get a shake. We've had millions (i don't know actual figure) and they are pretty much part of life now.

But goodiesguy seems to strike a nerve with me with every post

1195010 2011-05-10 10:58:00 What i meant in the earlier post is that every single aftershock does not need to be "Big News" with the news all over it.

I feel bad for the people in christchurch but we don't constantly need after shock news shoved down our throats. And i dont think victims would like this constant publicity either.

I would expect it to be big news if another building collapsed and injured or killed people, but there has been nothing to that extent really for a few months.

I really need to be more Descriptive in my posts so they dont get taken the wrong way.

1195011 2011-05-10 11:16:00 Fair enough I guess, I don't want every aftershock on the news either.
Just the way you said it.....

Might want to give some thought to tact next time.

1195012 2011-05-10 11:19:00 I'm sorry that you were offended.

I never meant to offend anyone. I am just a straight, upfront and simple kinda person. And i really need to remember to put more detail into what i say on this forum so people dont get offended.

But there have been thousands of aftershocks, ~6k I believe. That's not every aftershock on TV...

If by that you mean 15km deep then yes.

Seriously, if it was less than 1km deep and a 5.3 I doubt there'd be anything left standing. IIRC the Feb one was 5km deep.

1195016 2011-05-11 22:41:00 The epicentre is the spot on the earth's surface above the quake's centre. That's definitely less than a kilometre deep!

(I'm being pedantic - there's a few of us on this site!)
