1222777 2011-08-12 06:48:00 I have a whole parcel of Java TM 6,
MS.sync & MS. visual C+ redistributable,
MS. windows Management framework core &Wind. update source files,
also my system restore seems overful with points back to Apr. 2011,
can I remove any or all of this what seems like clutter to me????
I'm using XP3 with around 750MB ram.

1222778 2011-08-12 06:51:00 You need those updates if you've installed any programs that use / need them. Disable system restore, if you dont want to use it Speedy Gonzales (78)
1222779 2011-08-12 12:21:00 you can rick click on the drive, select properties, tools, cleanup, clean up system files, more options, clean up all but the latest restore point.

Java and Visual C+ are required for some other probrams but are not an essential part of windows. You could uninstall / delete them and see what happens, worst case you'll end up reinstalling.

CCleaner is a good tool for clearing up clutter.

The folks here have different preferences. Some use Symantec Norton Ghost, others use Acronis Recovery. I use Ghost and it has saved my bacon more times than I can remember. There's also a freebie backup program but I don't recollect what it's called.
