1222043 2011-08-09 05:32:00 I have just got a AMD sempron to see if it will unlock the second core making it dual core. How can I unlock the second core? QW. (15883)
1222044 2011-08-09 05:37:00 Might be an option in the BIOS. Whats the mobo? If its an Asrock, it looks like there's an option called Asrock UCC (dont know which mobos have this option tho) in the BIOS. Enable it Speedy Gonzales (78)
1222045 2011-08-09 05:39:00 Motherboard is an Asus M4N68T-M V2 QW. (15883)
1222046 2011-08-09 06:02:00 Look for core unlocker in the BIOS. Set it to enable. And change the setting under that to Auto. Save settings / reboot. See if it works. If it doesnt work that CPU probably doesnt support unlocking Speedy Gonzales (78)

I tried it out and the machine just went black. Wouldn't boot into windows at all. Took the CMOS battery out to get it sorted.

1222048 2011-08-09 10:44:00 Looks like it may work, if you enable it then disable it then enable it again. Dont forget (if you pull the battery), you'll have to reconfigure the BIOS settings. You may also have to put the CPU voltage up in the BIOS (dont ask me how) to make it stable. If the screen goes black again, you may not be able to unlock the other core Speedy Gonzales (78)

1222050 2011-08-09 10:48:00 Yup you'll have to set it in the BIOS first. It'll probably be wrong if you reboot. What BIOS is on it?? Its up to 0901 Speedy Gonzales (78)
1222051 2011-08-09 10:51:00 Might as well update it. QW. (15883)
1222052 2011-08-09 10:54:00 Don't do it in windows. If it supports ez flash update it in the BIOS with a usb flash drive. After you unzip the file Speedy Gonzales (78)
