I normally hibernate my laptop when i go to sleep, and in the morning ive been finding that the laptop doesnt resume windows, it just starts it up again from scratch...and when i get into windows, i get a "windows encountered an unexpected problem" message, saying there was a BSOD.... Any idea whats going on here? How can i have a BSOD when my laptop is in hibernate mode? |

| 1223300 | 2011-08-15 04:12:00 | Any version of windows can crash, going in or coming out of hibernation I think some people have fixed this by changing S3 to S1 in the BIOS (probably under power management). This may or may not fix it |

| 1223302 | 2011-08-16 00:49:00 | It might help if you disabled auto restart on BSOD. Then you can tell us what the BSOD code is. Info:- (Right Click on “My Computer” and goto “Properties”. Then goto the “Advanced” tab and under the headline “Startup and Recovery”, press the “Settings” button. Untick the “Automatically Restart” box and press Ok. Also, in most cases if you press F8 after a BSOD crash you will have the option “Disable Automatic Restart”). But since this problem is recent, you could try restoring to a date before the problem started. |

| 1223303 | 2011-08-16 01:27:00 | It may also be that a portion of the HDD reserved for Hibernation data (size of area is equivalent to your amount of RAM) may have become bad. I'd try the following: Disable Hibernation in the power options (this should free up the reserved area. Do a full scan of the HDD for errors. Defrag. Re-enable hibernation. Cross your fingers. |

| 1223305 | 2011-08-16 07:32:00 | Well the crash data appears to be auto saved to memory.dmp. Any idea what i can use to open it? I tried notepad and it just hangs. I also did a chkdsk in command prompt and it turned up nothing. When i try to do a chkdsk to scan for and recover bad sectors, the laptop prompts me to restart the computer, but it immediately skips the disk check while rebooting (i dont even touch the keyboard at all). No idea how to fix that. |
