1196867 2011-04-25 04:13:00 Ok we got a few of those flashback dvds a while back that had the out of copyright cartoons on them. Kids love them, but well i am a touch sick of them

Thought i'd increase the collection, so had a look on Archive.org, and yep they're all available for download, plus dozens of others, i am guessing i should get the mpeg2 which seem to be the largest file or is the mpeg4 as good, note these will be burned to disc for watching on a TV

Ones like this
www.archive.org
and this
www.archive.org

some of others have large xvid files instead of mpeg2

1196868 2011-04-25 05:01:00 xvid is an MPEG4 codec.

MPEG2 is used on DVDs, but will still likely need transcoding if you download the MPEG2 version from archive.org. MPEG4 achieves a higher quality of video with a smaller filesize.

If I was you, I'd go with the MPEG4 version and transcode that back to MPEG2 at burn time.

1196870 2011-04-25 06:18:00 get the Mpeg-2, as thats what is used on dvds, although it'll need to be converted to a .VOB file to play in a dvd player

Archive.org rocks!

1196871 2011-04-25 06:54:00 MPEG 4, as previously stated. Has a better compression (smaller size) with better quality (nice picture) also MP4 files can be played on ipods and the likes of apple... so if you have one, movies on the go I guess. The Error Guy (14052)
1196872 2011-04-25 07:16:00 Yes, but mpeg 2 is the dvd standard, and i am yet to see an mpeg 4 look nicer than an mpeg 2. goodiesguy (15316)
1196873 2011-04-25 07:18:00 Stop downloading crappy pr0n and watch HD youtube, that uses H.264/AVC part 10, which IIRC is part of the MPEG4 family. ubergeek85 (131)
1196874 2011-04-25 07:19:00 Youtube's compression is crappy. goodiesguy (15316)
1196875 2011-04-25 07:30:00 Youtube's compression is crappy.

So why keep posting youtube links then?
