1224066 2011-08-17 23:22:00 Well it's not a netbook, but todays firstin deal is close, it's a 14" and weighs in at 2.2KG, but a laptop is a damn sight heavier than a netbook which is probably only around half that.

Then, you get yourself a Tablet, and you're only 2/3 the weight of a netbook again!

1224067 2011-08-17 23:42:00 she doesn't want a tablet, since they're difficult to type on.
She's basically settled on the idea of getting a net book, since she's tried lugging her 17" round a bit, and doesn't like how huge it is.
She wants hand bag sort of size.

I was looking at some of the Asus EEE pc's for around 700, they seem pretty decent.
What sort of specs should I go for ideally? Like, intel dual core over atom, right?

How's the new amd fusion stacking up? My friend has one but I'm not sure how happy he is with it.

1224068 2011-08-17 23:53:00 My little Acer Aspire one came with 7 Starter and Android.
I dont care about not having a huge amount of ram with it, its meant to be portable and not to run ram sucking programs, it also came with Office 2010 Starter, the advertising is not that bad as Gary said, Or I have just got use to it.
If you want a screenshot of what the advertising looks like post here and I will upload one.

Just had someone ask me about more RAM for an ACER One D255E - looks like too much hassle to upgrade, damn near need to dismantle the whole thing to get to the RAM slot www.youtube.com

I think I will decline this job!!

1224069 2011-08-18 00:10:00 The ASUS Eee 1215N came with Windows 7 Home Premium. Also, if she's a computer science student (lol), she can probably download a copy of Windows 7 Professional free from the university.

I got Win7 Pro N for free from Waiariki. Does not have WMP though.

1224071 2011-08-18 01:56:00 If she is at uni and wants office then use the office ultimate steal deal.
