| 1196501 | 2011-04-24 01:11:00 | Side note, if I wanted to display a pattern (such as an oscillating sine wave or text) would that be possible? and should I try making it from multi colour LED's to add extra WOW!! Also, if anyone else wants to build one too we could probably share shipping orders, if you live in wellington or masterton we could even do it together... (cue odd looks from slightly seedy comment :p) Cheers again :D Looks nice but I guess you need double that if you want stereo (which I reckon just looking at it is going to be expensive) You could probably incorporate some kind of inbuilt function to the firmware that would make a wave pattern on the display, say as an intro animation or maybe when you press a button. Provided it supports individual LED addressing I guess you could also display text (again, with an in-built function) Unless you want to create some kind of interface via USB etc to your PC the message will be unchangeable without a rewrite of the firmware. (In which case I would suggest this: harbaum.org) where you drive it direct from PC and thus can display anything - but it will be even more expensive! Personally, I like the look of this one: bsselektronika.hu It's only 8 channel but I guess you could duplicate the circuitry, change the frequencies and get a 16 channel. Then double it again for stereo. Overall I think that one would be cheaper and have a much easier to produce and solder PCB layout. |

| 1196502 | 2011-04-24 09:28:00 | I managed to grab a copy of the project file, PM me your email address and I'll send it to you. It's about 30Mb RAR'd. Side note, if I wanted to display a pattern (such as an oscillating sine wave or text) would that be possible? and should I try making it from multi colour LED's to add extra WOW!! If you recoded the firmware, then yeah, it shouldn't be too hard, but I notice that project uses a multiplexed display, depending on how the firmware is set up, it might not make it suitable for graphics (it might like to light up multiple lines at once). Have a look here for a nice graphical LED display; spritesmods.com If I were you, I'd try to make one off of another design, preferably with shift registers instead of hard multiplexed. |
