1196810 2011-04-24 22:47:00 Thanks for the link - Love the way they make sure a HDD is "cleaned" to guarantee that when its replaced there is no way anyone could ever read the data  wainuitech (129)
1196811 2011-04-24 22:47:00 I almost cried to see the volume of destroyed hard drives. What's the bet it's all more geared to protecting their own IP rather than the IP of all the places they've indexed and made available to the www. Paul.Cov (425)
1196812 2011-04-25 00:05:00 That is a very well structured company. It's easy to see how they've done so well! pine-o-cleen (2955)
1196813 2011-04-25 01:42:00 They may use a stripped-down version of Linux for the data servers, but at 3.07 - 3.11 in that video, there is a clearly displayed monitor with a default XP desktop background image... I guess the console has to run something... johcar (6283)
1196814 2011-04-25 11:18:00 Yeah I saw XP too, I'm sure they had a strict "No Microsoft OS" policy? Or was that Apple? Chilling_Silence (9)

I would imagine that might definitely be true of Apple, but possibly Google datacentres are a different kettle of fish to the Google software development centres scattered around the world... I'll ask my cousin's husband - he works for Google in Sydney (lucky bugger!)...
