1465266 2019-12-03 04:02:00 The tinny little speaker on our TV is rubbish. We just don't use it, it's that bad.:waughh:

Instead we feed the TV sound through our stereo. Much more acceptable.:)

Are there many others on this forum who do the same thing?

1465267 2019-12-03 04:13:00 Used to use the Stereo, untill it packed up ( was quite old) So got a set of Logitech Speakers, These ones : multimedia-speakers (www.logitech.com) With the Aid of a switch I can switch between the TV, Media Centre and Bluray Player.

The sound is reasonable and works well. Cant turn them up much more than 60% as it starts to rattle the windows and vibrate the floor to much and to loud.

The Subwoofer ( not the Dog either) :D Sits on the floor and the Speakers sit either side of the TV.

1465268 2019-12-03 04:37:00 Modern TV sound is rubbish. I think most of them have the speakers pointing down and they give a "grate" sound. I use a Sony 5.1 stereo set that has great sound. Panasonic TV and HDD Freeview recorder with Sony sound all works using any 1 of 3 remotes by HDMI control :)

1465271 2019-12-03 08:41:00 Yeah, the switch from a bulky CRT TV (which acted as a good chamber for making decent bass sounds) to a flat screen and the resultant tiny speakers has also led me to connect to a decent external speaker.

I took the speakers out of the old TV before passing it in to the recyclers. The speakers are earmarked for a MAME cabinet... which sadly is not being used, but the speakers, plus a budget amp should help me breath life into it eventually.

1465272 2019-12-03 18:26:00 The pointless trend towards thinner and thinner cabinets doesn't help either.

What's the point of a paper-thin T.V. if it makes everything sound terrible, and you have to add a separate amplifier and speakers to fix the problem, which defeats the purpose of the oh-so-thin "space saving" display to begin with....

Ugh, more marketing stupidity.

1465273 2019-12-04 04:59:00 a lot of the old crt used to have a big speaker box in the back behind the screen and a port running up to the front. even older tv's had the big speakers right up the front under the tv.
new tv's the speakers are just so tiny and sound like it.
