Surely, its something that was bound to happen. Theres a worldwide history of serious data breaches.
I have to think it was rushed & too little money spent on it

The Gun lobbyists made things worse , instead of quietly reporting it and telling no one else, they make it well know among themselves (It seems).
Its that action that makes it a serious breach, especially if some have downloaded bulk data , as they claim .
The sort of actions that put the gun lobbyists in a bad light with the general public.

" A gun dealer raised the alarm after finding they could access the data "
"Clement said this was the only person confirmed as accessing the data"
Obviously not true. Is Police Deputy Commissioner completely out of his depth , showing how misinformed he is with that sort of statement .

1465250 2019-12-03 07:11:00 the govt has a long history of bad IT projects and security failure.
yet police think they can make a publicly accessible database on the internet with zero failures. ROFLMAO.

1465252 2019-12-04 04:18:00 The gov't hasn't got it all its own way when it comes to IT completely lacking in I.
There's local bodies demonstrating that where ignorance is bliss there are always plenty of councilors and staffers spreading the mirth.

only to well.
one of the head guys from IBM lived down the road from me and sadly passed away some time later.

even jacindas own dept had a data breach 6-12 months ago.
their stupidity is only exceeded by their arrogance.
