1464817 2019-11-07 17:36:00 They are advertising Lyposperic (not certain of the spelling) Vitamin C on the radio. It's a Vitamin C tablet that is taken daily.

I can't understand why you would take a tablet to get your daily dose of vitamin C. I have an orange. Much more tasty, juicy and enjoyable.:)

Ugh.

Can't understand that. An orange is much more preferable.

1464820 2019-11-07 18:46:00 The idea that fruit is best came from sailors and citrus being added.

But many other things have far more vitamin C than citrus.

Capsicums for instance.
Strawberries too.
Broccoli (although I am not a fan)
Tomatoes

1464821 2019-11-07 19:11:00 I don't take tablets, but I don't like oranges either.

One persons preference has no bearing on anyone else.

1464822 2019-11-07 20:17:00 Far too many people still think that its OK to megadose in Vitamins
All you need is the RDA, all these tablets far exceed that .

They ignore that megadosing is actually harmful long term. Some vitamins are actually quite poisonous in larger doses
Even VitC is harmfull in high dosages , long term .
Add to that , there is little in the way of ongoing quality checks on these tablets. They may not contain whats claimed , as has been found in the past.

Lots of money to be made in Vit tablets . Its all about the $

1464823 2019-11-07 20:49:00 I work on the principal that a natural source of nutrients is best.
There are too many supplements and chemical additives in many foods, some of which have little beneficial effect.

I dunno, some of those food additives certainly get the bowels working .

Well, you do pee out excess Vitamin C, but I agree about the others. Unless you have a medical reason. Husband needed B!2 for a while.
The rest, it's the fashion, like the fads for various foods being a magic cure-all.

1464826 2019-11-08 01:48:00 I am on prescribed monthly doses of Vit D, which works alongside an annual injection of Aclasta to treat osteoporosis. Vit D does seem to be a standard medical response to osteopenia and osteoporosis (alongside other drugs). John H (8)
