| 1460994 | 2019-05-27 12:59:00 | Hi. Major headache I have. Yesterday, I went to use AOMEI Backerupper to create a clone of C Drive, accidently clicked Start and it was in Format or Delete mode. Hit Cancel within 1 sec and a half and subsequently, the 4TB HDD is now 3.7TB Unallocated. Doesn't show in This PC but does in Disk Management. I have been trying for almost 2 days to rebuild/recover the 'Lost Partition' I tried a couple apps but don't have Easeus installed, I DL'd free Eases Data Recovery, started that and it showed 11 hours to do the job. I remember having wiped a 2TB HDD of all 4 partitions about 10 year ago, all I wanted to do was delete 1 of the partitions and it wiped the entire drive! I posted here about it and was told the name of an app to use and I wish I could remember what it is/was because I managed to get back all the 4 partitions and Media files/saved Program installers etc and it only took me about 30 minutes... it was a lot of 'guesswork' clicking to do things :D but it worked. I had googled the 'Fixes' and there wee CMD Prompt methods, Diskpart I think...anyway before I get to carried away..... I got the MiniTool Pro, started use that at 11pm last night, at 3am it had done about 98% and still had a hell of a lot of recovery to do (looking at the XXXXXXXXXXof XXXXXXXXXXXXX recovered so I went to bed. At 11 am today when I woke it showed Completed and there were the GPT partition that was already existent when I started and there was another entry in the window showed the 3.7TB Partition. I clicked it to see what the files etc are and the damn thing popped up a window saying Mimitool has just Crashed!...I Started it again at 11am, at 3:50 pm it had done 55%... at 6pm I was looking for wallet on table and bust have done something to computer because the 'Recovery' window had vanished! I restarted the Minitool and for gawds ache, its opening and saying 99% completed, gets to 100 and the window opens showing the two partitions that I can tick a box in and double click to view the files... click the 3.7 Recovered partition and again it says its CRASHED! Send log to minitool.com support. One thing that is really hacking me off is that this is the 2nd time its crashed and when I restart the tool it opens at 99% done!!!!!! That is even after a Comp restart and reopening of Minitool. I already had an AOMEI Full backup of the C Drive that I had made 2 month ago but I wanted to make a new one and then instal/upgrade from v1809 to v1903 from a DVD I created from the ISO I DL'd that Wainuitech mentioned a month back. Now its kinda looking like I doing a fresh Instal of W10 x64 v1903 and all the programs etc I had installed to my C Drive...or I just leave the 1809 in place and get another M2 NVMe to instal 1903 onto. But...anyone able to tell me how I can get the Data etc back on the unallocated space of the 4FB External HDD? I could format it and bite the bullet for all the last data. Here are some PICs..... pic on left shows recovery at 5:54pm _ after almost 7 hours.... 1 hour later somehow I managed to close the recovery option! pic on right is Restarting the MiniTool and it shows the 99% done! More pics to follow Asus Prime B450M-A./ AMD Ryzen5 2400G./ GSkill FlareX DDR4 16GB 2933 (@2400MHz.)/ Radeon RX580 Nitro+ 8GD5./ Corsair Force MP300 M.2 SSD./ Samsung Evo 860 500GB SSD./ Corsair HX750 PSU./ W10 x64 Pro v1809... .. and an External 4TB Seagate Back Up Hub HDD |

| 1460995 | 2019-05-27 13:04:00 | These pics I took tonight.... when I tried to restart Minitool
it shows the 99% done yet again as soon as I start the process! Is very frustrating. Might be Wiping the Corsair M2 and installing W10 v1903 at the end of the day...sometime after I wake. Thanks for any help. Cheers Garry |

| 1460996 | 2019-05-27 21:37:00 | I already had an AOMEI Full backup of the C Drive that I had made 2 month ago but I wanted to make a new one Then wipe the drive, partition according to how you want it (or leave them as is) and restore this backup. Far easier. |

| 1460998 | 2019-05-27 22:19:00 | If you want to get any data back from the wiped partition its still may be possible. BUT the free recovery programs generally wont do it. Two That I use all the time are Getdataback www.runtime.org and Xboft Data Recovery www.xboft.com With Getdataback, it will scan your drive but and let you see any recoverable data but to recover you need to pay for it. BUT with xboft there is a 2GB Free amount, so if you have a backupo already and only need to recover a small amount thats unsaved the free limit on Xboft may do. Being a 4TB drive it will take HOURS or even a day or two to run. Data recovery is not a fast process when done correctly. If I were you try the Xboft 1st. |

| 1460999 | 2019-05-27 23:18:00 | Piroska,Bryan and wainuitech,, it is not the C drive that has become unallocated space. it is the external drive. I do not need to use the back up of C drive. It is the External Drive I want to recover. wainuitech, yeah the free data recovery doesn't recover the data, as Mini Tool said when I downloaded the Free version and started recovery...so I bought the Pro version 10.3.3 The data on the External HDD has not been deleted, it will all still be there. it is the partition table or something like that which has been screwed in that instant Aomei backerupper was on. I will check out Xboft. If it lets me see what is on the HDD then I can maybe get the 2TB of data that is most important to me. Thanks for input. Sorry, Xboft only recovers 2GB.I will plod on here. May simply format the external drive and have a clean 3.7TB HDD to use. Cheers. |

| 1461000 | 2019-05-27 23:36:00 | I see what Xboft finds... it will take 600 minutes but that time keeps increasing...….10 hours for 2GB?? time has dropped to 356 mins...hope it keeps dropping :D Why is it showing the 548.99GB GPT partition as RAW? The GPT Partition cannot be deleted or overwritten, it is a modern system that leaves the MBR in the shade sine UEFI replaced BIOS. |

| 1461001 | 2019-05-27 23:49:00 | Also I forgot to mention last night: the 2nd group of 5 pics I submitted, the first of them shows the Unallocated Space of the External HDD is now GPT... it wasn't GPT before. | kioti (17360) | ||
| 1461002 | 2019-05-27 23:53:00 | What make is your Ext HDD. If it is Seagate, download the "Seatools for Windows" program and run the basic test to fix problems. | Bryan (147) | ||

The GPT Partition cannot be deleted or overwritten, it is a modern system that leaves the MBR in the shade sine UEFI replaced BIOS. As mentioned, data recovery is not a fast task. Its not uncommon to take a couple of days for larger drives. Had on drive once take close to a week to scan, (mind you it was in a really bad state) If its an external Drive then yep, will take longer as its limited to the speed of the Connection. The 2GB limit for the free part of Xboft is just that, meaning if you have some files backed up already to another drive and lets say there's only 1GB of data that's not backed up, what you do it select the items not backed up and recover that, you don't need to do the whole drive.Anything larger than 2GB total = $$ The RAW may be another partition that was on the drive once. The recovery software looks for ANY past partition that may have been there. The software will look for ALL the partitions both present and past along with any data on them. That's why anything you delete isn't really gone UNLESS the data is over written. The drive /partitions and their formats - can be removed, just some software cant do it, then theres always diskpart -- Wont even go there its a VERY powerful set of commands, there's no second chances with that (warning - are you sure) |
