2019-05-16 11:01:00 | Somehow, I have problem with the scanning function of this printer from my main PC running Win10 Pro. It used to work perfectly OK. 2 other PCs one Win7 and the other Win10 Pro all work fine. So, I uninstalled the driver and HP software, and reinstalled the driver, freshly downloaded from HP site. But, it failed to complete the installation process, sitting there "installing network printer' .... couldn't even cancel the process. I had to shut down the PC to terminate. Tried a couple of times from this afternoon. Any suggestions, please. I know that the printer should be OK as other 2 PCs are quite happy with it. Problem must be with my PC.

How long did you give it to install when the message "installing network printer" Appeared.?? Sometimes they can take what seems like forever. Did one yesterday on a W7 laptop, via USB took about 20 minutes at the "installing " Stage :sleep Make sure that network Discovery is turned on as well, option 2 from the following is the way I do it. www.tenforums.com One other way -- Don't use the software, but You can go into the Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Install Printer - Point it to look on the network (assuming its a LAN connected) sometimes that picks up better. Once its connected MS actually have a reasonably good scan App -- Go to the Store, search for Scan, you'll find Windows Scan (Blue icon with a white scanner) works quite well in most cases. :) |

2019-05-17 00:13:00 | It's connecting via Wireless network. It detected the the Printer OK in the device detecting phase; but just couldn't complete the installation. I waited for more than half an hour but it still installing ..... I had to restart my PC to terminate the installing. Just to try it out, I uninstalled the printer on my other Win10 Pro (an i5) and reinstall to make sure that the driver is correct and any others ... It went through very smoothly, took just under 5 minutes to complete everything! It's most likely my PC problem, but what could it be? Yes, MS has HP Smart app, pretty good but only thing is, from the Printer's interface, I cannot choose the format (PDF, JPeg, etc) to scan a document. There's no option to do so, the default is JPeg. I can, however, do it from HP Smart App.

2019-05-17 00:53:00 | Two things, ones a real "gotya" moment. When its installing and appears to hang check theres no icon flashing on the taskbar, sometimes (printers esp) software pops UNDER a message that requires attention, agree, yes etc, BUT the window is hidden under another open window, bringing it to the top, clicking what it wants and away it goes. If thats not happening, you can make sure the print spooler is actually running, press the windows key + R type in services.msc in the box and press enter. Scroll down to Print Spooler, make sure the services are Started and set to Automatic. If all OK then try the suggestion from HP, the old drivers may be causing a problem. Read the post from HP Forum 4th down Jeet_Singh h30434.www3.hp.com Different model of printer but everything else will be all the same.

2019-05-17 01:25:00 | You say "I uninstalled the driver and HP software, and reinstalled the driver, freshly downloaded from HP site". Have you reinstalled the HP Software before you load the new drivers? '

2019-05-17 11:23:00 | Tried all the above suggestions, nothing works. How do I remove all printer related driver and clean it up completely? I have run Ccleaner after uninstalling those HP software and drivers from Programs and Features.
