1464883 2019-12-02 20:23:00 I'm sorry your mum didn't get to enjoy her bathroom renovation zqwerty, damn quakes bellbird (6169)
1464884 2019-12-02 21:04:00 Thanks bellbird, she did use it for a while but not under the circumstances she wanted it for, that is: when she got older and would find maneuvering more difficult. zqwerty (97)
1464885 2019-12-02 21:20:00 As I tried saying at the beginning, you get what you pay for :( Zippity (58)

Yes, it's fair that 'you get what you pay for..'

But, it's not uncommon that you DON'T get what you pay for ... you are being ripped off ...

That's how /when the story begins ...

And?
I had 3 quotes.
His was in the middle. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive.

My budget savings were getting the vanity myself, buying a cheap shower and doing the painting myself.
Not their work.

The most expensive is not automatically the best.

Agreed, but it is normally better than the cheap option.

You get what you paid for.

Utter bollocks.
The existence of Fair Go, the CGA and Consumer have shown that to be a fallacy.
In fact I am watching Shop Well For Less right now.
This is a UK program where people are spending like mad on expensive brand things and wanting to reduce their expenditure.
They put all their stuff into plain packs, some is changed, some is not.

99% of the time, they can't tell. They say their fav is now the crap (cheap) one, the cheap one is the original etc.

They also do blind tests of products.
Today was electric razors. First it was sorted by how powerful they seemed.
Then it was tested on some hairy faces.
The order then got switched around, based on how well they performed.

It isn't always the cheap wins, nor is it always the expensive.

Here is another example. Consumers tests on sunscreens recently.
many fail.
There is a list of good ones, SPF being what it claims.
Price varies. Among the good ones.
Some cheap ones, some not.

On the fail range - ditto.

And Pricespy.
I bought a particular fridge. searched Pricespy for it once I had decided on which one I wanted.
prices varied, I got it for $584. Some shops had the EXACT same model for more.

So obviously, according to your theory, mine is somehow inferior cause I paid less?
When it's the same fridge, but had a different retail markup?

You sound like those Dothraki girls in GOT.
"It is known" they say to all their stupid ideas on how things are.
