| 1464912 | 2019-11-17 19:52:00 | I watched a short video on youtube one time by a sound engineer who described some of the processes. It was quite interesting. One observation he made is all the pros tend to be over 40, often well over, and generally can't hear higher frequencies any more. Somehow they still do the job though. Wouldn't matter to me, I can't hear past 15khz any more either. Sometimes remastering is great, especially if the band is involved. I think sometimes though the original mixing works better. Records are very limited in the amount of stereo separation, levels, and dynamic range they have so mixes for vinyl can often be improved on with digital media in mind. It doesn't mean they always get it right though and music is a very personal thing, there will always be some who prefer one version and some who prefer the other. |
