The Luddites (no apostrophe) were a 19th century group of workers who destroyed machines they thought would take away their jobs. These days the term is used to describe anyone who is opposed to progress. While the Greens certainly question whether all "advancements" are actually in the global interest, they don't just brainlessly spout old tired cliches opposing well proven climate change effects. That seems more Luddite-ish to me. |

Dampness and humidity are factors, it seems that old time farmers used to put their hands on/between hay bales to see if they were getting warm or not to predict a possible fire. I'd guess it's a feature of composting. Maybe not a good choice of material (straw) to use on such an important building, especially sealed between bitumen rubber and plywood. |

Interesting piece When he was shown details during a tour of the roof, the company told him they were "very aware" of the potential combustibility of the straw and ply during construction if a fire broke out, and were taking precautions to prevent it. Yeah - that didn't work to well did it ;) |
