1464843	2019-11-11 18:58:00	This is fun. Not. It was delayed a week. Plumber was the one who took on job, quoted etc. Builder is the one with the most work and costs. He arrived 8 days ago, 9am ish, and ripped the room apart. He has a beer at morning tea, 2 at lunch and another at afternoon tea. Ok................ Then he leaves about 3pm ish. It is now day 9. Removing one of the door frames didn't happen as planned, yesterday he amended it to, remove inner bit of wood. He left without doing that either. It was meant to be done Sunday, plumber finishing off yesterday, floor people today. Floor people are today, I removed the old lino, and the wood builder left etc. So emailed and said adjust bill accordingly. (I had added a bit earlier as there was some unexpected flooring to add). Builder nuts off. I point out he is behind by miles, it needs finishing, stay late, and how long ot took me to do those bits isn't the point, why did I have to? He had his afternoon beer yesterday, then packed up and went. Who does that anyway? No wonder it takes so long, part time hours, with long beer breaks. Totally over the reno now. 1464844	2019-11-11 21:09:00	Sounds like you may have the wrong builder. We had a bathroom done, builder organised sparkie, plumber, tiler, painter. All finished in about 3 days and we are really happy with the tradesmanlike work of all. The builder took us to the plumbing wholesaler to choose bath, shower and other ancillary furniture, then it was non-stop during working hours until finished.	Richard (739)
1464845	2019-11-11 21:25:00	yep like Richard posted wrong builder by the sounds of it :( Theres good and bad in all trades, depends on the luck of the draw sometimes. When I did our bathroom and toilet the plumbers were really good. The one that did the toilet arrived spot on time did exactly what was required quickly, and even gave some suggestions on other things I was doing myself. Strange enough I got the one who did the toilet while driving behind him coming down the wainui hill. rang the number on his van and the rest-- well bit of a funny story but worked out well. :)	wainuitech (129)
1464846	2019-11-12 00:00:00	I put the job on Builderscrack and plumber took it. he arranged builder. Plumber is new at running his own business...I feel bit sorry for him now, he's the one stuck with project managing now. (Other than me)	piroska (17583)

1464849	2019-11-12 02:55:00	Cheapish. As in I have this much money, what can I do? Not make what I would prefer, happen. In fact the materials are not major, nor is plumbers labour. Most of it is actually builder. Savings came by me providing vanity and shower cubicle, doing the painting after, myself and putting up towel rails and all that stuff ourselves. (And removing them all before hand ourselves so he had a fittingless room to start with). His work is not in question - either of them, well done, neat work. Just his beersies and sitting on his arse. he doesn't get more money for taking longer...in fact he is delaying his next job.	piroska (17583)

1464851	2019-11-12 19:23:00	Going to grump to plumber today. Worked out it's $79 for showers so far...not including petrol for travel. He needs a new builder. So do I. And our tempering valve has died. Great. Husband can do that one..I'm out of money.	piroska (17583)
1464852	2019-11-12 23:34:00	one thing with renos, its not to often they work out exactly as planned, "Something" always seems to come up. Bathrooms and toilets, normally the smallest rooms usually take the longest and cost more than expected. The "something" when doing our toilet was a wall was approx 5-10mm out of true, which has a window frame close to the edge of the wall. SWMBO couldn't see it but I could and it annoyed the hell out of me, BUT to straighten it would have meant completely disassembling the next wall, which is also load bearing and costing many hours in time and materials. So I've learnt to live with it.	wainuitech (129)
