1461217 2019-06-04 13:15:00 Hi all,

My Acer monitor has the blue power light on, but no display. Not even 'no input detected' = just totally blank. Pressing the power button, or any of the buttons, does nothing.

If I access the desktop that's connected to it via VNC Viewer (similar program to Teamviewer), I can access it and navigate, so I know the desktop is not frozen.

If unplugged the cable from the PC to monitor, then powered off monitor and then back on again (remaining disconnected from PC). Same thin..sold blue power light, but nothing on the monitor at all, and power button will not turn blue light off.
I don't have another monitor available to test.

Can I safely assume it's a dead monitor?

If it was the DVI cable, or the desktop or graphics card, I would have expected after disconnecting the PC to see 'no signal available' on the monitor.
Monitor is I think 3 or 4 years old, so will be out of warranty so I guess I'll have to buy a new one if this is the problem. But still a bit annoyed it's seemingly failed, 3 or 4 years is not what I consider old for a monitor.

Yeah, I'm now quite hessitant on Samsung.
I've got a flat screen TV here, nothing big or fancy, but it has loads of horizontal lines streaked across the screen. Some colours make them more visible than others, and while they're not really an issue when viewing the screen from a distance, it looks really nasty up close, and Samsung is definitely off my future Buy list because of this.
