1225400 2011-08-23 11:30:00 A dual core Toshiba was dropped in for a clean up. Problem was it was running too slow. I cleared out viruses, toolbars, redundant misc, etc.

The question is, what of Toshibas' crapware can I disable from startup?
There's quite a few suspects...

Powersaver/TPwrMain.exe
Smoothview.exe
Flashcards\tcrdmain.exe
Twebcamera.exe
SmartfaceVwatcher.exe
HDD SSD alert/Toswaitsrv.exe
Toshibaservicestation.exe
Tosvolregulator.exe
Tosrealtimemonitor.exe
BulletinBoard\tosnccore.exe

Also there's a Lexmark entry: LXCFCATS.
Is there any issue with disabling here? (The owners have a Lexmark printer)

If it were mine, I'd probably disable all, then only re-enable if need be.
Any thoughts? Anyone been there?
Thanks.

1225404 2011-08-23 22:20:00 Looks like TPwrMain.exe is required to run on startup

Untick Smoothview.exe, leave tcrdmain.exe there if you want the memory card slots to work.

1225405 2011-08-23 22:40:00 Hi Tbird650

Suggest you download a Startup Manager to help with your problem. Goto HERE (download.cnet.com) to down a useful tool. The Startup Manager will tell you what each file does and suggests if it should stay, is optional or should be deleted. I would urge caution when deleting any Toshiba file as this may lead to misfunction of a feature of your lappy. For example, unticking Powersaver/TPwrMain.exe as suggested earlier will rendered the Toshiba Powersaver in Control Panel useless. This is much better than Windows effort and doesn't take much resources to leave, which basically means you won't gain much by deleting it as a start up item but you will lose the ability to use it. However it's your choice.

The other advantage of using a Startup Manager is you can easily check as you install more and more programs.

Hope this helps.
