1198168 2011-05-01 21:40:00 You have not answered the Question!

Which Politician do you hold in higher regard than the Queen?

That is what a Republic is about - replacing the Queen with a "bloody politician"

Well let the Queen come down here and stand at the next election. I'm sure should would stand under the Monarchist party banner.. What currently does she have to do with day to day running on NZ?? Sweet fanny all. All all done by the local politicians bad and worse..

We can understand your sentiments but if you replace the Queen with a figurehead president which is largely a ceremonial post you have the same problem.
The prez is almost always an ex politician that everyone hates like Shimon Peres of isrel picked by the ruling government of the time.
In NZ I am sure it will a thousand year run of females and non Caucasians is that what you want?

1198171 2011-05-02 01:04:00 At one stage, I was admiring a good looking horse, too. Then I realised it was Princess Anne. :annoyed:

So who was riding her this time,

or was she in a team pulling one of the Royal drays?

Cheers

1198172 2011-05-02 01:15:00 Republicans take heed, and take care what you write:

* 1848 As revolutions swept across Europe, the Treason Felony Act made it an offence, punishable by life imprisonment, to advocate abolition of the monarchy, even by peaceful means, in print. An attempt to repeal the law two years ago failed, so it still technically stands.

1198174 2011-05-02 01:41:00 No, but you would have to careful what you say if you went on an OE to the UK  Terry Porritt (14)
1198175 2011-05-02 01:43:00 I love being part of the empire, and have no problem with the monarchy...i hope Wills & Kate do a better job of being the 'front-men', than Charles & Diana!

And I have no idea how anyone can think an Indian looks like a kiwi, but then again, there are a number of dickhead PC people about so whatever!

Edit - I think its the lack of tradition and appreciation of the same, thats half the problems with the country today!

I didn't see any drays there, or did they appear later in the piece? Possibly to pick up the horse apples left behind?

Poor old Anne, I think she's really a good apple. Oops :o

1198177 2011-05-02 01:54:00 .........and another thing aspiring republicans should consider is that if you are a citizen of New Zealand then either you have sworn an oath of allegiance to the Queen, or, if you were born here, then like it or not, you are a subject of the Queen and the oath of allegiance is deemed to apply.
