1198447 2011-05-05 23:07:00 Just found: MAFIAA Fire: A Firefox add-on to reverse US government domain censorship (landofthefreeish.com)

“This is just a start, now that we have opened this can of worms people can expect many add-ons, extensions and plug-ins from us,” TorrentFreak was told. “Our goal is to reverse governments attempts to censor the Internet, and nearly anything the anti-piracy people put up to protect their dinosaur business models.”Imagine the old game of whack-a-mole, now imagine playing on multiple machines all around you at the same time.”

“We really are tired of the corruption at the highest levels of government by these people. Enough is enough. There is a time to moan and there is a time to take action – and taking action has been long overdue,” the MAFIAA Fire developer said.

Nothing to do with the NZ issues in this thread but heartening that those in other lands are also fed up with government corruption and BS.

1198448 2011-05-06 00:41:00 That looks quite interesting... if we're lucky enough in a few years we'll have to start using it too! Agent_24 (57)
1198449 2011-05-06 01:05:00 I was saying that just because someone pirates something, doesn't mean the shop has lost a sale.

What about people who can't afford to buy every game?

Then there is DRM as you say... and I hate Steam. bought Half Life 2 and regretted it the moment I tried to run the game and it said I had to download ~1GB of updates first.

Perhaps not, but probably they did. All the people I know who steal movies and stuff do so because it's so easy. And free.

What if they can't? Plenty of people can't afford steak either, should they be allowed to steal it?

DRM, yes. I hate Steam too. I bought Orange Box, PAID for it, gave it to a friend who kindly ripped steam out of it and gave it back.

No piracy, no theft, but no steam either.

I would do that, but then how are you suppose to update, if you can't use Steam? It's not as if they let you download patches separately. Also, if you buy it you are still supporting Steam.

1198452 2011-05-06 03:27:00 Gotta admit, that's probably Chris Bartons first and only post I've ever agreed with :D
And a well done article by Juha too, I thought. Hat's off to the both of them :)
