| 1197493 | 2011-04-29 04:32:00 | "He has never stood for a seat in Parliament" According to Wiki: " Brash's first entry into politics came in 1980 when the National Party selected him to stand as its candidate in the by-election in the East Coast Bays electorate. Brash's attempt at the seat, however, failed some believe that this resulted from the decision by Robert Muldoon, National Party Prime Minister, to raise tolls on the Auckland Harbour Bridge, an important route for East Coast Bays residents. The seat went to Gary Knapp of the Social Credit Party. Brash again failed to win the seat at the general election of 1981." |

| 1197495 | 2011-04-29 10:18:00 | Brash would have the NZ nuclear policy "gone by lunch time"; his racist speech at Orewa; his lies about party funding and the Exclusive Brethren; his claim he got 39% of the vote when the National Party members did all the work and the vote was for the party not Brash; his rolling of Bill English to get the leadership of the Nats; his refusal to take the conventional political route into a party when he said "make me leader or Act is history"; his demand to be made finance minister when he is not even in parliament. He has never stood for a seat in Parliament; he has frequently said Working for Families must go; He has expressed the wish to chop student loans; he believes those deserving folk on a benefit should have serious reduction in benefit; he believes workers are overpaid; he would reduce tax for the wealthy. So let's see: you don't like Don Brash because he has political views. Because he has ideas and can argue them in depth. Because - unusually for a politician - he doesn't make personal attacks on other people despite the attacks on him. Sounds like an ethical principled man. |

| 1197496 | 2011-04-29 10:40:00 | (snip) Sounds like an ethical principled man. The only ethic or principle he follows is greed. Or 'devil take the hindmost'. Or 'the rich man in his castle, the poor man at his gate dadedadeda God ordered their estate'. I think the latter is the only thing he heard from his father's ministry. |

| 1197497 | 2011-04-29 10:42:00 | Great - another psychopath wanting to run the country. Most of these power junkies don't feel anything below the neck. It's all head stuff, cooked up by the brain. I think we could run this chunk of rock we live on quite well without politicians and their lavish fantasies about how the rest of us should live. Good riddance to the lot of them. | braindead (1685) | ||

Didn't he have a go at Helen Clark about her support for civil unions etc. re the sanctity of marriage then it emerged that he had been playing away himself, twice!!!! |

I believe that this 'ethical principled man' did feel something below the neck (or rather he was feeling something below someone else's neck), when he was playing away from home during his second marriage. |
