1197471 2011-04-28 02:51:00 I think Don Brash taking over will be a positive thing.
It will help National get back in with a right wing partner.

It may also put a bit of pressure on National to start doing a bit more and getting tougher on crime etc.

It will be interesting to see Bill's budget next month.
He is going to be forced to make quite a few cuts.

If you sell things you reduce your assets so become less attractive if you ever need to borrow more money.

Positive for Act probably but what worries me about DB(not the brewery) is they way he only wants to be a leader within a political party. Doesn't want to stand as an electorate candidate or anything.

1197474 2011-04-28 03:21:00 So stuff MMP. The idea of Lists is ridiculous. Look at all the parasitic List members that are given plumb jobs, Cullen and Hughes in their day to name two no-hopers. There are many more.

If you can't win an electoral seat by standing, you don't deserve a position of power in any Gov't.

True - He should start of as a candidate or similar, but DB seems to be only interested in Leadership positions (perhaps used to top governing type positions) which require wide reaching/nz wide policies (for better or worse). Candidate position probably be demeaning/trivial to him.

Talking about shaking hands, it is soft, when I met him for about 5s at Manukau Hayman park for Waitangi celebrations a few years back. He did quip something, which I could not hear properly.Though he looked out of place in the crowd, but I sensed a very astute/clever man for his age, if that accounts today in politics. But whether if he can implement his policies effectively is another thing...

1197478 2011-04-28 04:42:00 Cut the size of Parliament in half. We don't need 122 or 3 of them. Snorkbox (15764)
